Baldies Boards / Kayak and Paddle Board Hire
1. You will be given an onshore briefing regarding paddle techniques, craft description, what to do in the event of capsize or emergency, how to get the best out of your vessel for the hire duration. We kindly ask that you please watch and listen to the instruction given during the briefing and if you do require an on-water demonstration one of our coaches, leaders or instructors would be happy to provide this.
2. If you wish to advance your paddle skills, we offer lessons which can be arranged by one of our fully qualified instructors. Please do talk to a member of our team who will happily discuss various options.
3. If you see working platforms, please make eye contact with the skipper, and follow their direction.
4. You will be provided with a buoyancy aid, this must be worn at all times on or in the craft (Buoyancy aids must not be used as cushions) - paddleboarders will be given a leash and a QR belt, you must wear these at all times (unless you are involved in a paddle and play session).
5. Please be aware of weather conditions, such as strong winds, cold water and hot sun on the water, the strength of the sun is magnified, so please dress accordingly and consideration should be given to wearing a hat and sunglasses on sunny/hot days and using environmentally friendly sunscreen (especially for children).
6. Take sufficient water and food to cover the duration of your trip, you will drink more water than normal so allow for that. Take any medication with you, that you may require whilst on the water.
7. Make sure you have a fully charged mobile phone on board, and listed below. Also ensure that you have our mobile phone number with you.
8. You are not permitted to use the craft if you are intoxicated by drink or drugs, your judgement is impaired, and this is for your own safety.
9. Never exceed the weight capacity of the craft. (You will find weight capacity information on our website : baldiesboards.co.uk)
10. Should the kayak capsize, or you fall in, you are advised to stay calm, swim the craft back to the bank, empty the water out and continue your adventure. Paddleboarders should either self-rescue (or help each other on) - if this is not possible, then swim to the edge and climb back on using the shallow water as an aid.
11. If you come across another craft coming towards you, keep to the right-hand side of the canal when paddling past.
12. Give anglers room to fish, do not grab hold of the fishing lines caught in the trees as there could be hooks attached.
13. Please pass wildlife respectful, give swans a wide birth, and tell us of anything interesting you have spotted.
14. Spa Common is the upstream limit of navigation. Please do not enter the lock chamber.
15. Ebridge Mill is the downstream limit of navigation (your launch point).

17. We may use pictures for PR & Marketing (please let us know if you wish to opt out).
18. Please take all your rubbish with you, leave nothing behind except footprints and make nothing but memories.
19. Dogs are allowed on site but must always be on a lead, and you, as a responsible dog owner, must clear up after your pet.
20. If you do not return your vessel within 20 minutes of your expected time, we will endeavour to contact you, then an alert will be raised. Additional costs to yourself may be incurred.
